Enthusiasm for PLL
Although it is a single super heterodyne, its PLL synthesizer construction gives a good hearing performance and its transmission is also good to be heard. It is not sure whether the PLL is really required to create only 8 channels of frequencies. In fact, we rarely use the function of automatically seeking the channel. However, the enthusiasm to put the construction into the CB rig around 1980 should be valued..

Made SONY well known for deep modulation
As well as ICB-R5, probably due to its filtering property, it has a characteristic of deep modulation, easy to be heard. Also it gives very easy-to-hear sounds as well for receiving signals by using a rather big speaker.
After 30 years, it is still actively on duty, being used by many CBers especially for Dxing.
Introduced: 1977
